4 BRIDGES ARTS FESTIVAL

Saturday, April 11th 10 AM - 7 PM

Sunday, April 12th 10 AM - 5 PM

  • Glidden creates one of a kind, globally inspired wearable art. An American German who was born in Lahore, Pakistan, she began her jewelry business in 2006. The inspiration for her work comes from the many years living abroad in Pakistan, Iran, Germany, Brazil and Mexico. Her work has a modern-tribal tone blending the many cultures she experienced. Sterling silver, vermeil, brass and leather are combined with vibrant gemstones, pearls, horn and wood to create unique pieces. Wire wrapped gemstone rings, and "wave bead"necklaces are some of her signature designs.
  • Christina was a featured artist at Friday Jazz at The High Museum of Art in Atlanta, Georgia in November 2009. Her work is represented by the Hunter Museum Gift Store, Area 61, and Plum Nelly all in Chattanooga, Tennessee; Transitions by CMI Designs in Dalton, Georgia; and Skywolf Galleries, Teton Village, Wyoming
Dana Shavin began her art career twenty years ago as a potter before moving into floorcloth design, painting, and photo transparency work. She has exhibited at shows throughout the country including Cherry Creek Art Festival (Denver), The Plaza and the Brookside Art Annual (Kansas City), Port Clinton (Chicago), and Main Street Art Festival (Fort Worth). Her work has been in galleries in Chicago, Atlanta, Greenville (SC), Roanoke, and Chattanooga, and featured in numerous exhibits. Shavin has many corporate collectors including the Lyndhurst Foundation, and the Southern Saddlery Building. Her public artwork is featured at the McKamey Animal Care and Adoption Center (2011) and Northgate Mall, Chattanooga (2001). Shavin is also a writer whose memoir, “The Body Tourist”, was published last year by She left that career in 1997 to pursue art and writing full time. Three years later her future husband Daryl Thetford left his career as mental health center manager and Director of rehabilitation services to pursue a career as a fine art photographer. Shavin and Thetford travel to art fairs throughout the country and sell to corporations and collectors thorough galleries. In addition to work as a mixed media artist and writer, Shavin is also a life coach.

Spring Forward!

Well, the daffodils have begun to bloom & hopefully the cold weather is behind us! This weekend we spring forward . A wonderful array of new things have begun to arrive at the Plum...from bright new colored cotton throw rugs to festive pillow wraps to pottery in a range of shades of Spring to everything Easter. Again, we will have  locally baked Bunny bread here as early as next week (Friday, the 13th!). It is a great hostess gift,  Easter basket stuffer or just a lovely happy to take to someone to say hello & happy Spring! We also have Easter burlap placemats & pennant banners with pastel bunnies & cottontails as well as many other fun items that scream Happy Easter & Spring!  We continue to have a fresh array of flowers, plants & orchids from Bud Floral + Home of  Signal Mountain.

We also have a great collection of painted blocks from Signal Mountain artist, Melanie Underwood. Her messages are sweet and evoke a smile. Melanie said "I find painting whimsical paintings bring me the greatest joy. I love the child like aspect to it and it keeps me young. I love to incorporate recycled materials to my work and am lucky enough to have built a few homes with my husband that it has opened my eyes to see things in a new way. A piece of trim has become a skinny piece of artwork, a 1 x 4 has become an inspirational piece to prop on your nightstand, and the list goes on. I look at all things differently. I am truly joyful knowing that I can work from home doing what I love!...I'm a creative spirit that finds the joy scattered throughout my day."

Stop in Plum Nelly & check out Melanie's work, Bud's flowers & all the other great new items we have to offer! As always, please check out our facebook page for any fun specials ~ events goin on or images of new items.  www.facebook.com/pages/The-Plum-Nelly-Shop-and-Gallery
